BN in Sarawak behaves like Zionist Israel

26th June, is the day many in Sarawak will remember as the day when Barisan National showed its true ugly land grabbibg face. There have been hundreds of land grabbing cases..but this one is one of the best.

Imagine the total disrespect on behalf of BN when their cronies; WTK march on to evict 300 people of Rumah Umpol, Ulu Niah without offering a single sen in conpensation.. The 60 doors long house has been in existence for decades and they have documents to prove their legal standing over the land.

It clearly shows how BN had grown to become  inhuman and heartless , brutal and cruel, merciless and savage. Is this BN's gift to the people of Sarawak for being their "fixed deposit"

The question is, didn't BN told the whole world that their policy is "people first" (rakyat didahulukan) but why treat the poor Ibans as if they are slaves.

BN proudly proclaim that "Janji ditepati" (kept the promises) and that is this years Merdeka slogan. But the question is "janji pada siapa"? why the people were treated like they are 3rd class animals. Why there is wanton disregard for their rights.?

It has been BN's traditional motto: "tradisi membela rakyat" (Upholding people's right is our tradition)but now we know that all these sweet words are mere lip service as BN is just like Zionist Israel, where they don't care for the people's anchestral right.

Now the people of Rumah Umpol in Ulu Niah, are against the  big bullies in every way they can.. They  even call their anchestral spirits  to be with them to fight the evil intruders.

The rest of Sarawak should not just stand and watch. Join the fight and show the "power crazy monsters" that people are the real masters. Spread the word that how the BN will grab their land and no land is safe. Its time to take back what is rightfully yours.."Sarawak".

Debate Is Not Our Culture ?

Wow.. This really takes the cake. Najib has made many announcement that makes him look like 5 year old kid. But the one he made about "Debate" not being our culture is the best so far.

What the hell is he doing if not debating motions in the parliament. Or the BN law makers think its a place for them to sleep and thats what they have been doing all the while.

Debate is contention in argument, dispute, controversy, discussions especially the discussion of questions of public interest in Parliament or in any assembly.

How dare Najib could lie when the list below proves that "Debate" is very much alive  and a part of our culture. Just take a look at the number of debate championship taking place in Malaysia every year and judge for yourself.

Jika aku anak Sarawak...

Ayuh..anak anak Sarawak..

Pan Borneo Highway

How many of you will really believe that this is called Pan Borneo highway? To people in peninsular, this is called jalan kampong but here the people are led to believe that it is a highway.

After robbing Sabah and Sarawak of its wealth, dignity, pride and its freedom, now the federal government is insulting them even further. The federal goverment keep spending  lavishly on useless projects , covering up their cronies "shit pile" that stinks to hell  gate and constantly bailing them out every now and then.

Let me recap some of the shameless BN's financial wizardry that could have been put to good use :
RM 30    Billion    Bank Negara Forex Adventurte,
RM 52    Billion    Bumi share Copperfield Act.
 RM 12.5 Billion    PKZF  scandal
RM 6.78 Billion    PSC Naval Docyard
RM 4.4   Billion    Putra Transport system Bailout
RM 3.2   Billion     Star LRT Bail out..
RM 1      Billion     Euro Copter Bail out..

guys Im getting bored with all these figures that look like never ending Rosmah shopping spree..

So lets continue.. What I am trying to say is that the government which shouts and scream  "People first" (rakyat diutamakan) ..actually doesnt even know the meaning of those words.

Just look at the paltry amount that they gave to improve the longest road in Malaysia. Dato Seri Sariman Mansor ( Works Minister) proudly declared that RM 423 million will be given to upgrade the 2083 km long Pan Borneo highway. That comes to 203,000 thousand per kilometer. (try to buy a double story house in Kuching with that money..

Compare the amount that they (The BN government) spend on the highways in the peninsular. A new highway will be built from Banting to Taiping at a cost of 7.07 billion for 316 km. That is RM 22.3 million per km. And this highway is actually not necessary as there are other supporting highway networks such as PLUS and The federal route 5 (dual carriage way) or the Elite Link. With all these functioning well, yet the government sees its fit to spend  a humungous RM 22.3 million per km whereas the Sabahans and Sarawakians whom the BN goverment consider as "fixed deposit" for their power source only entitle for a measly RM 203k per km.

This is insulting. More insulting than calling Rosmah ; Dr Rosmah. The good minister said something like this.."if the people are willing to pay toll than the BN government will try to build better roads like the one in peninsular."

Now where the hell this idiot got his education from? University of KGB in Siberia or he never went to school at all.? Who are they trying to hoodwink with this moronic logic. Just because the people are being polite that doesn't mean that they are stupid.

I just can't fathom  who is he working for? Has the government lost all of its public obligation. Its called "government" for a reason. Its main job is to seek ways to serve people, to plan and build basic infra structure ranging from roads to hospitals.

Its the people's money and they have no bloody business telling the people its not viable to spend more for something as vehemently important as The trans Borneo Highway. The trans Borneo Highway should have been built some 20 years ago along with North South Highway which cost 3.5 billion back then. ( Given to the worst bidder). Building roads is the most important task of any government and it is evidently clear the BN is only interested in building good roads if there is a cut for them thru their cronies.

A highway consultant reiterated after taking into consideration all the related factors..the cost of building a world class highway from Kuching to KK should approximately coast around 10 million per km . Do your maths and you will know for less than 30 billion we can have a wonderful world class highway that will elevate the growth of Borneo and spur lots of corridor development and not mentioning the high standard that will ensure the safety of its users.

And if any minister tells you that its not economically justified to build such highway. just let loose a Sabahan "Orang Utan" to sodomize him.

Hopefully Pakatan Rakyat will make a "proper" Trans Borneo Highway as one of their election manifesto together with "superior standard" general hospital in in every division.

The people are the true masters of the country..the politicians are mere running dogs. Put them where they are.

Sarawak : Unassuming Delight (Part 2) : BETONG

Ever had a feeling of entering a time capsule that has caught the essence of long forgotten life style.? Like walking into a time tunnel that transport you back to sixties and seventies.

Betong is one such town where you can still encounter P. Ramlees and Salomas in their mismatch pants and shirts or Sarongs and shoes. Strangely it doesn't appear odd and weird as it reminds the alurements of your fashion savvy uncle and aunties of the sixties that strike an instant chord of melodious background score..

And while still  showering in the imaginative melodious score,  the way people go by their usual chores , the semi wooden buildings that had seen life changing faster than astro channels,, the way  things laid in the "pasar" more orderly than our parliament  , the cock and hen wrapped up artfully  to be sold off; looks more alive than the promises made by "fear for nothing politicians" will add value to the mental picture that one had already started casting in their mind.

Even the restaurants, still carry that by gone era's charm; low price and large servings that comes with a big warm smile. and the operators are friendly enough to ask questions on our special needs.

The market place has a magical lure unlike Chow Kit which has transformed itself into a scary market.

The delicacies, definitely not the usual stuff that we get to see in KL. Moreover the different types of rice being sold here adds an aura of ancient trade to the entire existence with its exotic names.

To be fair.. Betong is fast catching up with the rest of the place around the country thru its Betong Baru initiative but I hope it wont strip itself from the old world charm.

Sarawak : An Unassuming Delight

What makes a place memorable?  Beautiful sceneries will make the place interesting, people and culture will make a place fascinating, cuisine will make a place unforgettable  and when all these combine, one will have a brilliantly magnificent time.

This is my fourth Gawai and as usual it was a long early morning drive from Taman Midway ( Kota Samarahan to Kampong Lipat Ulu in Betong. The long drive was a charming experience itself as chivalric trees guard the road handsomely  from both sides; frequently allowing to peek into the serene kampongs that appear periodically.

Grandiose pepper plantations, pompously past by telling the tale of a swanky by gone era when pepper was the main source of income.

Occasionally one will get to see people waiting patiently for bus or van in a relaxingly reclined position against worn out wooden platform in age old bus halts.  Sometimes one can get glimpses of people squatting on the green while their children running around merrily and waving cheerfully returning your smile.

The images keep changing just like in an art movie; from rustic old houses to the transcendent mountains, imposingly majestic and mysteriously resplendent, taking one into a journey of soul and heart parting the opulent Land of Hornbills.

After almost 2 hours drive I reached my usual stop over; Sungai Tenggang ( 1.04' 50' 08' N / 111 03'33'93 E). I prefer this over Lachau for 2 reasons; Lachau is overly crowded and secondly only in Sungai Tenggang I can savour what has became my favourite delicacy: "Sarawak Fried Taufo With Peanut Soy Sauce".

As a life time vegetarian, it was a great discovery for me  as it is impossible for one to get vegetarian food along the way to Betong. Mui Fah restaurant is the second shop upon entering the small one row town that serves these highly desirable delicacy.

At 8.15 am the taufo still steaming fresh from frying wok, was sumptuously refreshing and ambrosially delectable. The nectarous soya sauce, not only makes the taufo savoury but it gives a scrumptiously piquant, sweet and spicy taste. A cup of hot Sarawak coffee goes well with this and that's exactly what i need to keep me moving ahead for few more hours. (Don't miss this.)

Reaching Rumah Panjai Cherang Lipat Ulu, Betong (1 '16 23' 26N / 11'32' 55 ' 55 E) is like entering a paradise. Remember the saying : house is made of wood and home is made of heart..?

That is why this place which cuts itself out from hustle and bustle of city life, maintains the old way of life. They cultivate most of their grains and vegetables. Most catch their own fish and rear poultry for own consumption. Many still use their boats to reach their paddy fields and other plantation. Until three years ago, boat was their only means of trasnport and that was the time when "speed" (speed boat taxi) was ruling the rivers.

Many still wash and bath in the inviting river which itself a refreshingly exciting  activity for me. A dip in the heavenly cold river  that flows from deep virgin forest will transport one back  few centuries and allow to relive the pleasure of age old river bath.

Gawai in Kampong Cherang Lipat Ulu is always an enchanting experience. Once again..its the people factor. They are the ones who gives the unparalleled hospitality, showering one with food and unlimited drinks, pamper visitors with magnanimous smile and infectious laughter and go the extra mile to make sure ones stay there is comfortable.

Its the people..its always the people  who will make a place unforgettable . Here, they are unbelievably friendly and their bright loving eyes speaks the unpretentious
bond that they feel towards visitors and it sparks a riotous festive mood immediately.

Their laid back approach to life, their unhurried pace. their openness towards visitors is a lesson 101 in treating people from different culture.

Counting the days for the next Gawai already....
